Teaching Conference and Recognition for BFA!

Last weekend was busy with plans to attend the AGIS (Association of German International Schools) Conference. We traveled on a plane and three trains to Hannover, Germany for the conference. I attended the math workshops on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning. Saturday evening, a celebration was held with Taiko drums, dinner, and a quiz! Most of the schools attending the conference are International schools in Germany and had quite a large representation. I believe we were the only Christian school at the conference and gave our school a little recognition when we made third place in the quiz! We were a small team of three and did not use Google to find our answers!
The conference was a great opportunity to learn more about teaching math and teaching in general! The workshops I attended were fabulous with a lot to consider as I move forward. There were also some serious math nerds at the conference which alters my view on my own nerdiness:) These math teachers showed real passion for math and love for the students as they shared classroom stories. Hearing math terms like vectors, project-based investigations, Fibonacci Numbers, Simpson's Rule, Matrices, and Morely's Theorem to name a few! I was challenged to develop my own mathematical knowledge and was in awe at the same time at the precision of our amazing Creator!
