Back to School Bash!!

Every year, Black Forest Academy's school year begins with Opening Ceremonies. Our Seniors parade into the auditorium carrying flags representing our student body. These flags are symbols of where our student families are serving on the mission field. This year, BFA represents 59 different countries! I shared some of these photos taken by BFA photographers on my FB wall. Check them out if you have not seen them yet!
To celebrate the beginning of the new year at the Middle School, we have a party with games after school on the first Friday of the year! Each class (5th through 8th grade) make up a team and we pit them again each other! We played fun youth group games including a "pass the baton" version of tic-tac-toe, Protect the President (the teachers are the presidents and bodyguards with the students trying to hit the presidents with dodge balls), a tin foil statue contest where the students dressed up a teacher in tin foil, and pass the berries (students pass a dodge ball "berry" down the line with only their feet)! The games were great and I had a blast watching and catching action moments! I have shared some pictures below and one video (there were important sound effects that went with one of the statues)! Enjoy!
Welcome to our Back to School Bash! Students wearing red shirts are 8th graders, blue shirts are 7th graders, green shirts are 6th graders, and yellow shirts are 5th graders!

First, it's time for tic-tac-toe! 5th grade against 6th grade and 7th grade against 8th grade!

Watch Ms. Custer as she shows how to flip our large BFA coin! In the picture below, we have a 7th grader who does it beautifully!

Next, each class lines up on the ground as we pass the berries (dodgeballs), but you can only use your feet!!

Creating a statue out of tin foil was a highlight! The 8th graders worked on turning Mr. Niles into...

The Lincoln Memorial!! And what do people do in front of statues? Take selfies, of course!!

The 7th graders were busy constructing a creative statue with Mrs. Niles...

and she became Lady Liberty! Oh, and we have some water here so don't forget to check out the sound effects!

Of course, two Statues of Liberty are better than one! Ms. Duvall and the 6th graders!

The creative 5th graders worked really hard to turn Mr. Schmidt into the Sphinx!
