For my 7th and 8th grade elective art class, we are entering Quarter 4 with some sculpturing before moving into ceramics. We looked at Deborah Butterfield's use of metal and wood to create horse sculptures. Students began by drawing some horses, then sketching some ideas for how to create their own sculpture. After a short hike to find sticks, students started trimming their sticks with small saws, sanding down their sticks and hot-gluing them together. I am amazed at their creativity! Some of these look like horses and some are quite abstract. We have a mermaid horse and even a headless horse in honor of Ichabod Crane! Join our fun and see moments from our art class last week. In a few of these pictures, you will see the high school industrial arts class in the background, also working on their projects. Some are working on coasters, wooden candy machines (need to find out more about this!) and using the power tools in the garage. This is also the BFA maintenance building or garage where our maintenance staff reside.
Thank you for visiting, and all of your wonderful support!! Leave a comment if you like! :)
