Keep Praying: God is Working!

I was invited to share at a local church in Fort Collins this past Sunday, Christ Fellowship Church. The church houses a childcare center and desires to provide quality care for local families and their children while touching lives for Christ at the same time. I used to work at this center for over 7 years, mostly in the four-year-old room and loved these little personalities! In the first few years I was at the center, a young 4 year old boy was in our classroom. Sweet boy with lots of fantastic smiles! He moved onto the 5's classroom then of course, into elementary school. A few years into elementary school, his grandmother and I were having a conversation about her grandkids and she asked me to specifically pray for this particular boy. I have. Many times in the past several years. His name and prayer request are written down in my prayer journal. I left the center and moved to Germany where I began teaching at an International Christian school for missionary kids called Black Forest Academy. It has maybe been around 10 years since I received this prayer request. I have prayed for this young boy knowing he was becoming a young man and not knowing where he was currently or what was happening in his life.
Last Sunday, I saw his grandma coming into church and greeted her. I asked how her grandson was doing and shared that I had been praying for him since she shared her prayer request with me. She shared that two miracles happened in his life on account of so many people praying for him!
One: He was in a serious car accident. He was studying with friends and was driving home late at night when he fell asleep at the wheel. A driver in the car behind him saw what had happened, was trained in the medical field and was able to start helping provide emergency care. I was told 6 different people between law enforcement and medical said it was a miracle he survived the accident.
Two: Two weeks later, he graduated from high school! School had always been a struggle yet somehow he made it through! He is also 6'2''! Not the cute little freckled red-head I once knew who was definitely shorter than me! I saw a few pictures of him and he is a tall, handsome man!
Does this mean I will stop praying for him? Absolutely not! God is so faithful and answers prayer even when we have no idea what is going on in the heart and life of the person we are praying for! I will update my prayers for this young man and keep praying. I hope this encourages you to also keep praying for those people in your life! Even if the situation seems hopeless, don't lose hope! Only God sees the heart and knows what is really going on!
