The Act of Trusting God in the Moment

Last Sunday, I was getting ready to leave for church when I received the news that some rides I was counting on for this week would need to be re-figured out. I also had an upcoming expense that I was a little unsure about. My first response was to get anxious and worry about how these rides would be covered and the funds for the expense. Instead, I sat down and gave these burdens to God and asked for his provision moving forward but also wisdom in the decisions I needed to make. I felt like I was placing burdens at his feet that I had little control over and walked away to continue on my way to service and was actively trusting that He would provide all the answers and rides and funds I would need. I did not need to panic.

I walked into the service just as they were singing 'Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus, and I realized this incredible hymn was just for me! The words spoke to my heart and reminded me how God has provided for me in the past and will continue to do so in the future. I don't need to stress or get anxious. He's got this!

Within a few days, most of the rides I needed were covered and the expense that I was unsure about was taken care of! God is so good! It is so easy to say God is good when we get what we want and things are easy. It is harder to say God is good and trustworthy when we are unsure how things will turn out.

Maybe you are trusting God to supply a particular need and could use a gentle reminder that He is our Ultimate Provider and sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die for our sins and rose from the dead. He was the Perfect Lamb who was slain for our sins and because of His Perfect Sacrifice, we are reconciled to God. Thanks be to Christ!

1)  'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,

Just to take Him at His Word;

Just to rest upon His promise;

Just to know, Thus saith the Lord.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,

How I've proved Him o'er and o'er,

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!

Oh, for grace to trust Him more.

2) O how sweet to trust in Jesus,

Just to trust His cleansing blood;

Just in simple faith to plunge me,

'Neath the healing, cleansing flood.

3) Yes, 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus,

Just from sin and self to cease;

Just from Jesus simply taking

Life, and rest, and joy, and peace.

4) I'm so glad I learned to trust Him,

Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;

And I know that He is with me,

Will be with me to the end.
