Yea! Science experiments! The 5th graders have been learning about the Endocrine System with all of its glands and how they work together, how to stay healthy with brusing their teeth and lately, nutrition. Last week, we chewed on a plaque disclosing tablet to make our teeth all purple, then brushed and flossed our teeth and once more, chewed another plaque discosing tablet to see if there were any changes. Some students found the amount of purple, "shocking"! Yet, it remains to be seen if they brush more. ;) Lots of fun was had looking at our purple teeth and tongues! A few giggles as well. :)

The 6th graders are learning about the classification hierarchy and were looking at some dirty pond water under a microscope last week. Our second experiement had them looking at mold on bread, lichen, and moss with a hand lense and comparing the three to see how moss differs from the other two. The third experiment had them looking under a microscope again at paramecium, amoeba, bacterium, and yeast then answering questions in their workbook.
We will be finishing our first chapter this week then dive into chapter two which has us looking at animals. Bring on the Biology!
