Annie Jr. was a huge success! Several middle school students took part in the middle school play, Annie Jr. and did a fabulous job! Rooster was played by one of my 8th graders and did a fantastic job being "creepy"! Students take part in elective classes during the last period of their day which can include broomball, choir, cooking, drawing, painting, industrial arts, card making, history bowl, and more classes that reflect the creativity and gifts of their teachers! This last quarter, some students took part in the musical elective for Annie Jr. and others created the bunk beds seen in the background in their industrial arts class. We have some amazingly talented students in our middle school! Thank you for all of your prayers and support! You are the reason these students are "fighting" in an orphanage in the BFA auditorium, showcasing their acting and singing talents for their parents and the BFA community! I am so thrilled and humbled to be a part of this community! Not to mention proud of "my students"!
I also have a praise to share concerning my 8th graders! After Friday's lesson, I had two different activities for the students. One activity was just a regular practice based on our lesson of finding the percent of increase/decrease. The other activity was centered on the same concept but dug a little deeper to enrich students' learning. I handed out the activities based on their individual skill levels. I used the opportunity to encourage a few students who have the skill level for higher learning but usually choose the minimum work. The room erupted in focused chatter as students began working! I was racing around the room answering questions as students were actively involved. After class, an observer in the room commented on the change in the students' learning and behavior. She stated there was a large percent of increase!
