Disney Villians and Baptism!

School is beginning to wind down and here are a few stories from the past few weeks!

The exciting climax of the Middle School Spring Party last Friday are the dressed up teachers! The student council picked the theme; Disney and the teachers picked a theme within a theme; Disney villians! I was Maleficent:) We played Disney memory where the students stood on the court and the teachers had to match pairs of Disney characters. The evening also included building a snowman contest with toilet paper and a dance party!

As I have shared, some of my eighth graders continue to struggle in math and school in general. As a middle scholar, students are learning how to be responsible, organized, and practicing vital study skills for high school and college! Two weeks ago, my math 8 class had a test which several students failed. Upon giving students the option of correcting for partial credit or retaking the test, they chose to retake. I held an optional study hall during lunch for students to get in some extra study time and two students showed up! I was surprised and thrilled with their desire to learn! After retaking the test, scores rose and students had a better understanding of the material.

My last praise concerns several students in high school, middle school and the elementary school who made the choice to be baptized last Sunday! One of the 8th grade boys was among the candidates! As middle school teachers, we were surprised and so excited for him! Please pray for this student as he goes forth walking with Christ. Pray his impact on his classmates and friends is positive and that he will allow Christ to shine through his life.

Coming up next week is our Experiential Learning Week! I will be working with the 7th graders as we have opportunities to learn outside of the classroom! I plan to share pictures and updates! After ELW, we will be getting ready for finals week before school closes.

Plans for the summer are coming together. I am so excited to be here this summer to help out at BFA, get in some Professional Development time and see a few sites as well. When school ends, I will be working for two weeks on the maintenance staff mowing lawns, cleaning, and helping out wherever I am needed. I will also have four weeks of Professional Development for lesson planning, reading, and getting ready for next year! I am so excited for planning time as I did not have any last year:) I also have four weeks of vacation! I am planning on traveling to Norway to see family and possibly walking part of the Camino in Spain with a friend!

Thank you so much for your support and for continuing your support through the summer! I am so blessed to have you in my life! May God bless you as dearly as He has blessed me through all of you!
