Middle School Art Show!

Exploratory classes at the middle school include Presentations, Computer, and Art! I was given the opportunity to teach two art classes during quarter 2 and will teach one more during quarter 4. Linking Art activities to Math in my classes and enjoying taking classes at The Art Factory here in Kandern, http://www.artfactorykandern.com/ , I have enjoyed watching students develop and grow in their creativity and talents.

In the Art classes, we focused on drawing with several different projects, checked out some YouTube videos on drawing and ended the class with a final project which I am posting. Students picked out a Biblical passage and proceeded to visually represent the passage in their drawing. Students were stretched as they searched for what to draw, looked up references, and went deeper in their thinking. One student picked the verse, "Jesus wept" and was told she needed to look at the deeper meaning and why Jesus was weeping. I think you will enjoy what she came up with!

Above are two representations of the flood! One is very calm with cute little ocean life, and the other represents the great chaos that happened with torrential rain, volcanoes, earthquakes, and the utter catastrophe of the flood.

The ship below was created by a student who loves the arts and has a lot of talent which I am sure you can see. She wrote her verse on the chain leading to the anchor.

Are you amazed at the talent of our middle school students!? They put a lot of work and thought into these projects. Some students took their project home to complete.

Just for fun and to practice proportions, Math 8 students mixed a little art with math in re-creating some candy wrappers. Do you see any candy you do not recognize? The blue Ritter Sport is a popular German chocolate bar. The dark chocolate Ritter is the best one in my opinion!
