Science replies from 7th graders!

My 7th graders just finished our last Biology unit on the Reproductive system. So glad we are going into Chemistry next!
On their test, I asked them a challenge question: "What can be done with the placenta after the mother has delivered the baby and the placenta?" Here are their replies for your entertainment!

"Maybe the placenta is used after the baby is born to bring other babies back whose placenta wasn't working properly??!!"

"You can eat it?"

"You could donate it to a mom who doesn't have one? So she has it when she's pregnant?"

"Maybe the placenta...well I have no clue. Maybe it gets pushed back in or thrown away."

"I think they wipe it off, and then they throw it out...I mean you don't really want to reuse that."

"When a baby is born the mother can either keep the placenta for when she gets other babies or it can maybe be removed."

"Maybe the placenta can be used to continue giving nutrients to the baby in the hours after it is born. Also, scientists could study the placenta and it's function."

Did you enjoy those as much as I did? Love the ways they think! Have a great weekend!
