What can you do with a pile of wood scraps? So much!! For our 4th quarter, my students will be creating a sculpture out of wood scraps! Some of the scraps, I collected from the Maintenance office on campus, some was brought by our Middle School principal and some I collected with my rudimentary German from a local lumberyard within a short walking distance.
Glance through below to see what we are working on! Besides the wood pieces, we have wood glue, nails, screws, hammers, screwdrivers and small saws.
So far, we have beginning creations of a mountain range, marble maze, a bridge with wire, and some unknowns. After we put our sculptures together, we will use watered down tempera paint to stain our structures, then we also have the option of adding finishing touches with embellishments such as buttons, beads, bits of colorful wire, etc. I am excited to see what they will come up with!
