We have finished our scrap wood sculptures! Some students were inspired and put in a lot of effort to create their piece. Everyone enjoyed the sawing (I helped ;), gluing and nailing pieces and painting their creations. I have a huge roll of copper colored wire in the back of the classroom as well and some students utilized this wire to create a railing or a person. As you scroll down, you will get to see what we have been working on in the art elective! Have fun!
This piece above, was created by a 6th grader. She has made a bridge over water complete with a railing, stripes on her road, tissue paper water and a small tin foil boat!
The piece above was created by an 8th grade student. Her goal was to create a small shelf. The wood she used was thin and curled a bit after she had glued pieces together. She finished her piece by painting her shelf.
I think this would have made a fantastic sail for a pirate ship! This piece above was created by an 8th grade student. After painting it, she used a Sharpie to create flowers.
This piece above was created by an 8th grade student. Can you guess what she made? You are right! She made a mountain range!
The piece above was created by an 8th grade student and is a table. I felt that it needed a tall bench to go with so made one. Anyone else at the table will have to stand, which is how the Germans drink their beer anyway at festivals!
The piece above was created by an 8th grade student. She created a marble maze and even let us try it out! She brought it to her 8th grade study hall class and was going to give candy prizes. Don't know how that turned out. :)
The piece above was created by an 8th grade student and is a train on tracks. We even went outside to find small rocks to glue on and make it look more authentic. Another student also used some rocks to add to her lighthouse scene below.
This piece was created by a 6th grader and consists of a lighthouse, houses in the background, a wire person and a rocky shore.
As we are all working at different paces, we finished our sculptures at different times. Our second project we are working on is paper mache! We have creations of chickens, pigs, an owl, a hot air balloon, an unknown (was going to be a turtle but she changed her mind), and maybe more that currently in formation. Soon, I'll have a whole barnyard of fun animals to share with you!
