For several years now, I have been listening to Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth from Revive Our Hearts. One message that I hear over and over is how important it is to pray for those around us. Mom's praying for their husbands, children, and grand-children. Praying for those we know who are prodigals. Praying for our siblings. Praying for those God has laid on our hearts.
I take this to heart and pray for my family, my students, their parents, supporters, churches that support me, prodigals, those walking through cancer and sickness, and others God has laid on my heart.
Recently, I sat down with a friend that has been a part of the same church my mom grew up in, that my grandma Aasboe (front, to my left, and wearing dark blue) was a part of throughout her life. She shared an incredible story that really touched my heart. I will call her J.
When J was a young woman, she was in a prayer group with three other older ladies including my grandma Aasboe (her name was Evelyn). My grandma would consistently pray for her daughters and for the four of us grandkids. J was so touched by this that she remembered years later and recounted it to me! And that she could see how those prayers have been answered. Grandma wanted us, her grandkids to have a life built on Christ; living for Him and serving Him. This was so incredibly sweet to me and I will treasure her words for the rest of my life. I knew my grandma prayed for me but to have someone share how they heard my grandma pray for me, how it impacted them in their early years, and how they could see the results of those prayers. It's hard to explain how incredible that is! I am thanking God for my grandparents that He placed in my life! I know my other grandparents also prayed for me too. ;) Their faithful and consistent prayers mean so much more to me than anything else they could have done or given me (material-wise).
Do you know of someone who is now with the Lord, who has prayed for you consistently in the past?
Who are you praying for consistently that years from now, when you are gone, by God's grace, will benefit and be touched by your prayers?
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth." 3 John 1:4 (ESV)

Love this, Karen. Praying for you, family, friends, the seekers and the lost. 🙏✝️
