Embracing the Mystery of God's Providence

Someone recently asked me what support raising is like. I shared that it is a faith building journey. I am constantly reminded of what I can control (contacting people, sharing about my ministry, preparing presentations, etc.) and what I cannot (those who support me at so much a month/year and for how long). God is continually reminding me to let go of the things I cannot control and give them to Him. He is more than capable! He has proven over and over how He is taking care of me in such incredible ways.

I have also been thinking recently of all of you! Everyone I am connected to through family, friends, a church, and so much more! God is so creative and has weaved my life beautifully in with the lives of others! I am sharing a photo of the back of a tapestry above that shows the messiness of our lives when we look at the tapestry from the back side. However, one day, we will see the front of the tapestry that God is weaving with our lives and we will be amazed at the beauty.

At the beginning of Ruth, Naomi is bitter and blames God for the tragedy in her family. When we get to chapter 4, we soar above the 'barley fields of Bethlehem' (J. Daley, 8 June 2025) and we are seeing God's plan of redemption at work from above. Sometimes our daily routines can seem insignificant. In my case, sending out emails, making lesson plans, emailing parents, connecting with my students on a daily basis (normally), and much more. Yet, I can't see the impact that my prayers for my family, friends, or students may make years from now. Or that conversation with that student, the help given, the kind and thoughtful words of encouragement spoken. It's a reminder to lean into Christ, to be emptied of myself and be filled with the Holy Spirit in all that I do.

"Every day, in every circumstance, God is always doing 10,000 things in your life, but you might be aware of only three of them" is a quote by John Piper. We confidently know He is up to something beautiful in our lives even when we can't see it or feel it.

Here is a beautiful peom that Corrie Tem Boom wrote that was shared on Sunday and describes this idea beautifully!

The Weaving

My life is but a weaving
Between my God and me.
I cannot choose the colors
He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;
And I in foolish pride
Forget He sees the upper
And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent
And the shuttles cease to fly
Will God unroll the canvas
And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful
In the weaver’s skillful hand
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;
Nothing this truth can dim.
He gives the very best to those
Who leave the choice to Him.
