Full Body Graphing!
The 8th grade students had a blast learning how to graph when it became hands-on! Equations were written on the board and the students lined up according to the y-intercept and the slope. One person from the group stood on the y-intercept while the rest counted out the rise over run for the slope. When students were lined up correctly, the equation on the board would mysteriously change! The slope, y-intercept would change to another number, sometimes a negative number and the students made changes to their line.
Graphing is usually focused on in the Spring Semester as I found out after beginning the unit! There are so many things to be learned the first year and mistakes to be learned from! Several students in the 8th grade struggle with math, especially the graphing! My goal is to be observant and discerning; knowing when students struggle to understand, when to slow down, and how to explain things clearly! Please continue to pray for all of us! We continue to learn from each other daily:)
