Experiential Learning Week: Science Museum!

Last week was Experiential Learning Week or as we call it, ELW. Each grade has a budget and the teachers are assigned to a certain grade to plan field trips. Students are learning outside of the classroom. Each grade level stays in our surrounding area except for the 8th graders who head to Lugano for the week.

I was helping with the 7th graders again this year and enjoyed their enthusiasm for all of our activities. Here was our schedule. On Monday, we spent the day at the Basel Zoo and the students had a blast visiting and pointing out their favorite animals. Tuesday, we spent the morning playing boardgames at the high school. In the afternoon, we had some wilderness training were we learned how to build and sustain a fire in wet conditions. Wednesday had us traveling to Switzerland to the Technorama Science Museum in Winterthur. If you are ever in that area, this in one museum you don't want to miss! I have included pictures below and a few videos of a few students doing experiments in the Chemistry lab. Thursday was a holiday, so no school. On Friday, we headed to Loerrach in Germany for a ropes course in the trees! I did not take any pictures since I was flying through the trees along with our students! ELW takes a lot of hard work as we plan activities, but as you can see from our students faces, it is totally worth it! Enjoy the photos!
